Job description

Morgan Hunt are currently working with a well-known Regulatory Body, in their search for an interim Senior Information Rights Officer to lead on casework relating to Freedom of Information and Data Subject Access Requests.

You will be responsible for managing and responding to a range of FOI and DSAR requests, either at initial request or internal review stage, while providing expert advice and supporting the preparation of responses. You will also contribute to the development and improvement of processes, training staff in relation to legislation and supporting the process of case allocation, performance reporting and escalated cases.

The successful applicants will have strong experience managing a large caseload of FOI and DSAR requests within the Public Sector. You will have experience working across organisations to gather and consider information for disclosure or non-disclosure, with strong understanding of relevant legislation. You will be analytical, proactive problem-solver with the ability to manage a large caseload.

This opportunity will be an FTC until end of March 2023, with potential extension. You will be working 40% of the time in the London Office.

Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 per annum

Job Type: Fixed-Term Contract (until March 2023, potential extension)

Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and respond to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), either at initial request or the internal review stage
  • Provide expert advice / case mentoring to other members of the Data Protection and Information Rights team or wider staff to support the preparation of responses to FOI requests or DSARs
  • Contribute to initiatives to develop and improve the FOI process, and train staff in information rights legislation
  • Support the processes for case allocation; performance reporting; and considering escalated cases, where appropriate
  • Maintenance of our online DP resource centre for staff, as well as ensuring staff understand its use.

Personal Specification

  • A good understanding of the requirements to comply with relevant information legislation, such as the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the GDPR/Data Protection Act 2018, including Data Subject Access Requests
  • Experience of managing a caseload of requests for information and delivering responses to these requests in accordance with applicable statutory timescales
  • Experience of working across teams to gather and consider information for disclosure or non-disclosure as permitted by the legislation
  • Experience of working with a case management system to manage request handling and response
  • Experience of dealing with escalated matters for internal review
