Job description

Morgan Hunt are currently working with one of the UK's Resolution Services in their search for An interim Governance & Legal Officer to support the Governance and Legal functions of the organisation alongside the Head of Legal and Company Secretary.

You will be responsible for full Secretariat management of the Board and Committees (scheduling, agenda preparation, report drafting, attending and minuting meetings and, following up on actions), while ensuring full legal and regulatory compliance of the organisation.

You will be responsible the review of commercial contracts, interpreting legal architecture contracts and oversight of relevant corporate registers, while supporting on specific projects and managing data protection related matters such as data breaches and DSARs.

This role is perfect for someone with strong experience as within Legal Support and Corporate Governance. You will have experience within Secretariat management, contract review and management as well as ensuring legal and regulatory compliance. You will have knowledge of data protection and associated requests.

You will be a motivated, well-communicated and organised self-starter, with the ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure and manage a range of varying tasks.

This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity offering the potential to work in the office (on occasion). You will be working closely with senior management, and supporting the small organisation with varying tasks allowing you to develop skills and progress.

Job Title: Governance & Legal Officer

Location: Remote Working & London (On Occasion)

Daily Rate: £150.00 - £190.00 (PAYE)

Annual Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

Job Type: Temporary to Permanent

Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week)

Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of Board and Committee support work - including scheduling Board meetings, agenda preparation, document circulation, drafting of reports, attending and minuting meetings, following-up on actions
  • Establish and manage any public meetings (to be determined) on behalf of the Board
  • Support with the delivery of legal compliance and corporate governance for the organisation
  • Support the maintenance of the Company's statutory records
  • Manage the corporate governance portal and provide relevant support and training to users
  • Convene committee meetings and liaison groups (and other stakeholder meetings as needed)
  • Provide support to the Board or other committees on specific projects
  • Provide secretariat functions to the Leadership Team and Programme Board
  • Provide legal and administrative support including review of commercial contracts, interpreting legal architecture contracts and, oversight of relevant corporate registers
  • Manage data protection related matters, such as data breaches and DSARs
  • Ensure that the organisation is kept up to date with any regulatory or statutory changes and assist in the periodic review of company policies
  • Assist in the implementation of processes or systems to help ensure good management of the organisation and compliance with legislation

Person Specification

  • Experience providing Governance and Legal support in a similar role
  • Strong experience within full Secretariat management of Boards and Committees
  • Experience in ensuring legal and regulatory compliance
  • Strong knowledge or experience within contract review and management
  • Knowledge of Data Protection and associated requests
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good eye for detail, efficient and good with deadlines and when under pressure.
