Job Title: Senior Research Officer

Job Type: Permanent

Location: London (Hybrid)

Salary: £41,000 - £45,000

I am working with a London based healthcare regulator who are looking for a 'Senior Research Officer' on a permanent basis. As a 'Senior Research Officer' you will work on a range of research projects aimed at improving NHS workforce recruitment and retainment, supporting healthcare professionals in their training needs, regulatory strategy as well as diversity, equality and inclusion. You will be responsible for identifying research needs, setting up research projects and communicating research developments with external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise and assist teams across the organisation to establish research needs and advise on appropriate methods to address objectives.
• Conduct analyses of qualitative and quantitative data and evidence in line with established good practice and research ethics.
• Translate primary and secondary data into a meaningful narrative that can be communicated effectively with a diverse audience.
• Work with stakeholders to help develop and inform evidence and research activities and to disseminate findings through a range of formats including reports and briefings.
• Support the design, commissioning, and management, of external research projects and agencies, translating internal customers' requirements into research specifications as required.
• Keep informed of developments in health and regulatory research arenas and relevant social research methodologies to ensure outputs reflect contemporary practices.

Essential Criteria

• Strong knowledge and experience in applied statistics and data analysis and fluent use of at least one statistical software package (such as SPSS).
• Experienced in developing survey questions, focus group and interview guides, and leading on the analysis of qualitative data
• Experienced in evaluating policies, programmes and initiatives at different levels including process and impact evaluations.
• Experience in quantitative analysis. Manipulating database and survey output data into tables ahead of conducting anaylsis to find key themes and insights.
• Programme and project management skills, with experience leading on research projects, quality assuring outputs and ensuring they are on time and within budget.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise and impartial briefing material and reports, and present it orally to non-specialists
• Demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire knowledge on unfamiliar and complex topics and to synthesise it for communication to others in a clear and coherent way
• Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of building and maintaining networks, and communicating effectively, with internal and external stakeholders and partners to achieve positive outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to provide expertise and advice on qualitative and quantitative research methods to colleagues, to translate their requirements into viable and robust research projects and specifications as required.
• Ability to work well independently, as part of a team and within an organisation
• Excellent ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines, setting realistic targets and prioritising effectively between competing priorities to ensure that changing short, medium and long-term demands and deadlines are met.
