Data Engineer - Oracle: 3-6 Months - Inside IR35

Job description

We currently have opportunities for 2 x Data Engineer's on a contract basis for our public sector client's Strategic Planning department - based in Glasgow. This will be on an initial 3 month contract with a potential to rise to 6 months and beyond.

Although the preference is to be in Glasgow, they're more than happy with people to work remotely from anywhere in the UK.

Duties include;

• Analysing business requirements, current business processes and future needs to develop appropriate technical solutions.
• Work with key stakeholders to prioritise, agree, design and Implement complex ETL and Data Integration processes, using different technologies.
• Recognise and share opportunities to re-use existing data flows across the team
• Working to deadlines design, develop and test new systems, producing detailed design specifications and documentation.
• Develop and maintain appropriate relationships with key stakeholders and provide expert advice, including coordination across teams and setting best practice and standards.
• Implement and support business information solutions, including the preparation and delivery of user training and familiarisation sessions for new and existing systems.
• Ensure continued familiarisation with new technologies and keep skills up to date.
• Analyse existing data warehouse architectures and identify areas for continuous improvement.

Skills Required;

• Extensive hands-on experience in creating data models and ETL/ELT pipelines for analytics applications.
• Extensive experience with data visualisation tools such as Qlik Sense & Power BI
• Significant experience of Data Warehouse design patterns and best practice.
• Experience in designing and helping to build DataOps processes and culture.
• Detailed knowledge of enterprise-scale data integration approaches and tools
• Detailed knowledge of RDBMS, SQL, preferably Oracle
• Detailed knowledge of data centric programming languages e.g., JavaScript, Java, Python, PLSQL
• Excellent analytical problem-solving skills and ability to implement solutions and preventative measures.
