Morgan Hunt are currently working with one of the UK's Royal Colleges in their search for a temporary Legal Officer to provide legal advice and representation to members in regulatory law proceedings.

You will be responsible for providing legal advice and representing for members (when necessary) as well as managing a caseload relating to regulatory law.

The successful candidate will have a strong qualified legal background, with expert knowledge around of Regulatory, Criminal, Employment, Public Law or Civil Litigation. You will be organised with the ability to work to tight deadlines, and will possess strong drafting and legal skills.

Job Title: Legal Officer

Location: Hybrid Working (London Office)

Hourly Rate: £26.00 - £29.00 PAYE

Job Type: Temporary (8 weeks, likely extension)

Hours: Full-time

Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and representation to members in employment law proceedings, including in relation to Professional Misconduct
• Undertake advocacy where applicable, and instruct advocates in respect of regulatory proceedings
• Manage a caseload while working with the Regulatory Law team and wider legal department
• Refer cases of members charged with criminal offences to private agent solicitors and to manage those files appropriately
• Advise and support members, officers and stewards on all issues of regulatory law relating to the healthcare sector
• Ensure the delivery of quality and cost effective legal services to members while demonstrating efficient use of resources
• Responsible for keeping up-to-date developing practises in accordance with the requirements of relevant regulatory bodies

Person Specification

• Graduate Level or equivalent experience - preferably Legally Qualified
• Expert knowledge of Regulatory, Criminal, Employment, Public Law or Civil Litigation
• Experience managing a large caseload of between 50 -100 cases
• Experience of working within a team, and ensuring that all internal operating protocols and customer service standards are met
• Ability to advise and represent members on all aspects of regulatory law
• Ability to draft legal pleadings and other documents
