£19.00 - £22.00 per hour

Job description

Morgan Hunt are currently working with one of the UK's Youth Charities in their search for a temporary Data Protection Lead to ensure the organisations data protection systems, policies and processes comply with legislation.

You will be responsible for providing expert advice relating to Data Protection and Information Governance across the organisation and managing a Data Protection Coordinator. You will ensure that information (including volunteer and young people data) is managed effectively while making recommendations to the organisation to ensure compliance.

This role is perfect for someone with strong experience within Data Protection (ideally within the Charity or Membership Sectors). You will have experience within a range of Data Protection requests, managing DPIAs and providing expert advice. You will be pragmatic, well-communicated self starter.

This is a temporary, part-time opportunity offering the potential to work in the office (not required) and the potential to go permanent.

Location: Remote Working & London (If you wish)

Hourly Rate: £19.00 - £22.00 (PAYE)

Job Type: Temporary (3 months, potential extension or permanency)

Hours: Part-time (21 - 28 hours per week)

Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor data protection compliance and ensure that all changes in legislation are reflected in business processes.
  • Manage the production of compliance reports and recommendations
  • Produce and manage organisational data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), making key recommendations
  • Ensure data protection and information security systems and processes comply with legislation and best practice
  • Develop and monitor organisational compliance and complete audits on record keeping processes
  • Manage the data protection risk register ensuring that it is up to date and is compliant with risk procedures
  • Manage and respond to all internal staff and volunteer queries relating to data protection and provide timely responses, including providing g expert advice across departments
  • Ensure that all requests for information from the ICO, SARs, general public and other external sources are managed in a compliant way
  • Ensure volunteer compliance with the Managing Information policy, and the handling of complaints and queries
  • Manage third party contracts ensuring value for money and production of deliverables
  • Line manage the data protection support coordinator.

Person Specification

  • Experience working within Data Protection and Information Governance (ideally within the Charity/NFP Sector or Membership Body)
  • Experience producing and managing DPIAs
  • Line Management experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of Data Protection Law and an in-depth knowledge of GDPR
  • Knowledge of information security principles and practice
  • Knowledge of information risk and risk management
  • Able to produce and review data protection policies and procedures
  • ability to analyse legislative requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Able to meet competing deadlines and manage time and priorities appropriately
  • Competence to advanced level in MS Office Suite
