Job description

We have a current opportunity for a Payroll Officer on a temporary basis for 3 months initially. (this is a vacant position within the team) The position will be based in Edinburgh and will be hybrid but will require 2/3 days office based.

Within the role you will assist with and support an efficient, accurate, responsive and professional Payroll and Pensions service to the organisation.

You will be naturally customer focussed and have a 'can do' attitude to ensure that our customers' experience of the service is positive. You will understand the importance of working with partner agencies such as HMRC and our pension provider.

Main duties are :

  • Ensure all data entry is processed accurately to meet agreed deadlines for monthly pay runs and year-end accounts.
  • Ensure all appropriate time sheets are received on time, carry out initial checks and prepare summary totalling hours, overtime, holidays etc.
  • Ensure accurate payments are made for salaried and hourly paid payrolls on a monthly basis.
  • Act as first point of contact in payroll and deal promptly with customer/employee issues/concerns to a satisfactory resolution, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Input and process relevant additional benefits schemes that are in place with VHA.
  • Ensure accurate input processing of relevant statutory deductions, HMRC, RTI notifications, including attachment of earnings, court orders etc. in line with payment deduction agreements.
  • Input and process all employee absence in line with the relevant policy in place and ensure accurate pay is received.

Experience within Payroll is essential
