Job description

We are delighted to be assisting one of the top employers within the education sector with the expansion of their Estates & Commercial Services department. The organisation are seeking multiple M&E Project Managers to join their developing team in Glasgow, these position would ideally suit PMs who might be currently working within a client-side role or an M&E consultancy.

Job Purpose

To assume responsibility for delivery of Capital Projects across the University's diverse estate. The role will entail delivery of projects from inception to practical completion, in the context of a transformational capital investment programme for the University designed to encourage collaboration, cross-disciplinary research and other strategic goals.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Provide professional Project Management support across all Estates & Commercial Services business areas and build strong working relationships to ensure best practice and to facilitate and maintain good communication with staff across the University.


Work with project sponsors to shape projects, providing expert professional challenge and technical support to the sponsor to ensure that individual projects provide value for money.

Support project sponsors to ensure that all necessary governance approvals are secured in a timely manner.

Ensure that the necessary resources are made available to the project to ensure the building is designed and developed on time, to cost and to quality.

Through existing consultant and construction frameworks appoint and manage design teams for individual projects, providing professional project management and technical expertise to ensure that all delivery partners are working effectively to enable project delivery within time, quality and budgetary requirements. Oversee that correct contractual arrangements are in place and are managed.

Ensure at key stages in the design and delivery process all necessary University approvals are secured including approval of the project brief, design reports, business case, statutory approvals, and gateway reviews/soft-landings reviews.

Ensure a sound understanding of all project costs and effectively manage projects within allocated budgets.

Ensure projects are delivered within the time constraints which are set.

Ensure all risks related to projects are identified, documented and managed, minimising the University's exposure to them.

Provide and present effective, timely and accurate project reports to the project sponsor and governance boards as required, demonstrating that projects are being properly managed in respect of time, cost and quality.

Ensure all necessary and appropriate reporting on cost control and management, change controls and risk management

Ensure that contractors, advisors and University staff carry out necessary and appropriate Health and Safety assessments and put in place all appropriate safe guards to ensure safe working practices.

Work closely with key senior staff within E&CS, and the Procurement team to engage in any work required to maintain and update frameworks to achieve the University's strategic objectives.
