Job description

Morgan Hunt are working in collaboration with a leading homelessness charity based in East London who are looking for a Resettlement Worker to work with homeless clients engaged in their service to find and sustain tenancies in varying types of onward accommodation including hostels, supported accommodation and the private rented sector.

Candidate duties:

  • Conducting a full and comprehensive assessment on clients support and housing needs that have been referred to the hotel via the homeless pathway
  • Pro-actively work with a caseload of clients to resettle them into appropriate longer term accommodation including private rented tenancies already procured by the charity
  • Ensure sourced properties are appropriately matched to the clients needs who are referred for Private Rented Sector (PRS) housing including consideration of affordability and risk
  • Coordinate and partnership work with colleagues in the progression of clients property offers made to/ from landlords, agents and partners to ensure client move on is secured
  • Ensuring client has all elements in place to commence new tenancy - including applications for relevant benefits and utilities
  • Partnership working with all client to best ensure positive outcomes and providing follow up support to assist clients in maintaining their tenancies

Candidate Needs:

  • Ability and experience in conducting homeless assessment, identifying risk and identifying appropriate move-on options
  • Experience of resettling clients into appropriate housing for their needs and means so rent levels are affordable for clients current circumstances
  • Experience of offering advice and guidance around housing and welfare benefit entitlement, income maximisation and tenancy sustainment
  • Up to date strong practical working knowledge of housing legislation, making housing applications, and how to source other forms of accommodation for homeless clients
  • Experience of working with homeless clients who have no recourse to public funds would be advantageous
  • A DBS certificate issued within the last 12 months or registered to the online update service
