Job description

Our client is a dynamic industry leading multi-faceted Glasgow based construction organisation undertaking all forms of construction projects including new build, refurbishment, conversion and stock improvement, with a range of added value services tailored to individual client requirements. The division we are hiring for is widely recognised by industry as one of the most advanced off-site timber building system providers operating in the UK.

An opening exists for a highly motivated person to oversee all aspects of our production operations within a busy factory environment.

Operations Manager Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee manufacturing and operational processes and ensure they are optimised
  • Work with relevant teams to ensure that processes are implemented and operated efficiently, including fulfilling orders and meeting deadlines
  • Overseeing the workforce in the production department
  • Manage targets and ensure they are clearly communicated with workforce / key personnel
  • Communicate any problems with senior management and assist by offering solutions
  • Ensure that final products meet quality standards and customer specifications
  • Responsible for the performance and development of the factory operations in order to produce efficient production and delivery solutions against pre-agreed targets
  • Close interaction and communication with workforce to ensure smooth running of the team and department as a whole
  • Oversee and contribute to training and development of the production team
  • Monitor and record performance and implement change management as required
  • Effective liaison, support and assistance required between all other departments within the business (i.e. design, site supervisors and commercial)
  • Responsible for recruitment, training and appraisals within department
  • Delegate responsibility to Assistant Production Managers, Production Supervisors and Team Leaders
  • Set an example for team members and department as a whole of commitment, work ethics, teamwork and good personal character
  • Interact and co-operate with all members of the business, its suppliers, clients and customers
  • Strong leadership qualities and capability to drive a team

  • Encourage open lines of communication, strategic thinking, innovation, and action as required

Requirements:

  • Proven industry experience as an Operations Manager or similar position, preferably within the manufacturing industry
  • Experience of planning & programming work operations
  • Prior knowledge of timber frame is preferred but not essential

  • Knowledge of business processes and functions
  • Excellent communication and motivational skills
  • Outstanding organisation and leadership skills
  • Problem solving aptitude
