Economic Advisor

Job description

We have a current opportunity for a Economic Adviser on a permanent basis. The position will be based in Glasgow with flexible on site and remote working.

The purpose of the role is to drive innovation and improvements across our planning and budgeting cycle and create alignment between strategic planning and our ambitions to support sustainable economic development locally, nationally, and globally. The role will focus on the synthesis of our evidence base organisation wide to support strategically important programmes of activity with a particular initial focus on Sustainability and Economic Analysis.

Other duties include;

• Lead on the development of the evidence base in relation to the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals, engagement with colleague across the organisational on the collection and communication of results and work with external partners to build relationships
• Lead on the development of in-house and external development of economic impact reporting and assessment capability. Ensure work undertaken is to UK Government Greenbook standard to ensure compliance with external reporting requirements.
• Work in support of projects across the institution to establish compelling Strategic, Outline and Full Business cases to maximise funding opportunities.
• Work autonomously and possess the intellect and capability to bring new ideas and innovative ways of working to their areas. This will be essential to drive the change we want to implement through PIA's vision.
• Advise on the analysis and interpretation of data, identify trends and test solutions and report on progress to support the resolution of issues.
• Engage with key stakeholders and work collaboratively with colleagues to investigate and highlight areas of best practice and identify improvement opportunities.
• Contribute to the formulation of policy to improve quality and effectiveness of service provision, considering, where relevant, legislative changes

Skills/Experience Required;

• Authoritative knowledge of Economic Impact Analysis and the HMT Treasury Green Book

• Experience of using data analysis and insight to inform decision making

• Experience of using Economic Impact Analysis and HMT Treasury Green Book guidance for the development of Business Cases
