Morgan Hunt are currently recruiting for a Graduate Systems Developer on a permanent basis for our public sector client based in Kilmarnock.

Salary: £29,500

Working within the priorities set by the Senior Systems Developer, the Systems Developer will be responsible for supporting the design and development of new information systems. In addition, the postholder will also maintain, develop, and support the organisation's suite of existing systems. This role involves developing software for use on the web, mobile devices, desktops and servers in a variety of languages including, for example, HTML, C# and PHP. Common frameworks and libraries will also be used to integrate third party systems with in-house applications and reporting systems.

Duties Include:

  • Liaise with colleagues across the organisation to identify information and systems requirements to support the development of software/system architectures and designs.
  • Design, develop, maintain, and document computer software and systems across a range of platforms e.g., desktop/mobile/web applications, utilities and scripts, business systems and reporting tools in line with best practice standards and working practices to meet the organisation's business aims and objectives.
  • Design, develop, maintain, and document databases and middleware in accordance with industry best practice to enable interoperability between in-house and third-party systems.
  • Undertake routine accessibility and usability testing to ensure that applications and systems delivered by the Systems Development Team meet with organisation and user requirements and comply with UK and EU legislation.
  • Support the implementation of best practice such as version control, continuous integration and responsive design in order to enable the sustainable development of internal systems.
  • Monitor the performance of organisation's data systems including systems backup in accordance with agreed protocols to ensure that maximum capacity and capability is always delivered.

Experience & Skills:

  • Programming languages including HTML, C#, PHP, ASP, etc
  • Creating, maintaining, and querying SQL databases.
  • A working knowledge of business intelligence tools eg Qlikview, Qliksense and Tableau
  • Ability to create, develop maintain and query SQL databases.
