BI Developer

£34000 - £41000 per annum Excellent Holidays & Pension

Job description

We are currently recruiting for a BI Developer on a permanent basis on behalf of our public sector client based in Stirling.

Salary: £34k - £41k

The role holder will be part of the core Product development team and will support the design, development and maintenance of a valuable MI reporting suite, pulling from many heterogeneous data sources, all of which need well understood and regularly updated. They will play a key role in the on-going technical development of the organisation's data warehouse and BI tools, in particular working with colleagues to design and build new BI services based on Microsoft Cloud Azure platform while also supporting the existing Oracle based BI service.


* Design and development of data conversions, interfaces, custom reporting, forms and custom applications
* Develop the analytics capability of the organisation, working closely with the Planning Team and other key stakeholders within the organisation to build reliable data sets and usable dashboards
* Work with cutting edge cloud BI tools to migrate from existing on-premise services
* Work with business users to understand and refine Business Requirements, create Functional Design and Testing documents
* Convert business requirements into technical design documents, develop and implement the solution
* Develop and execute test plans and scripts
* Deliver solutions on-time to delight our internal customers
* Participate in peer code/design reviews to ensure the delivery of quality solutions
* Work with the Business to set up 'self-serve' data-sets, reports and dashboards that can be trusted for data analysis and decision making
* Identify trends within the data and, using forecasting methods, make pro-active recommendations that drive tangible benefits for the organisation
* Contribute to the development of overall processes within the BI and Data Engineering Function
* Proactively seek opportunities from across the Organisation to improve the BI and Data Engineering infrastructure
* Set up data segregation / row-level security


* Degree in Information Systems or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Experience with enterprise BI tools such as Microsoft PowerBI or Oracle BIEE
* Experience with relational databases such Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle DB
* Experience with data reporting tools such as Oracle Reports and PowerBI
* Experience with data transformation tools such as ODI and DataFactory
* Experience creating ETL on complex data sets from multiple sources
* Previous experience in providing the full BI development stack
* SQL programming advanced skills and experience
* Experience of working within ITIL, Prince2 (or similar)
* Advanced Knowledge and experience of using Power BI
* MS stack SSIS, SSRS and SSAS
