Project Manager

£40000 - £50000 per annum Excellent Benefits

Job description

We're currently recruiting for a Project Manager to work on a 2 year Fixed-term basis. The Project Manager will have a key role and responsibility to provide project management and leadership for this strategic important project.

The project will be a complex programme of work which will further develop, design and architect the organisations processes, systems and services to enhance the student experience and bring improved efficiency and effectiveness to our operations. The programme will have four key interdependent strands:

  • Process review
  • Information Architecture
  • Systems Development
  • Service Improvement

Other duties include;

  • Effectively lead and project manage the project, through the full project management lifecycle, including project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & controlling, closure and evaluation.
  • Lead the establishment of business requirements through business analysis and acting as a facilitator with the relevant business area using a range of engagement activities or techniques.
  • Engage with and lead the project team and any staffing resource attached to project work packages or other activities, ensuring that progress is made to meet milestones and the successful delivery of project objectives.
  • Monitor and report on project progress upwardly through the relevant governance structure (i.e. project board where relevant and/or IS programme board) and to senior stakeholders and project sponsors.
  • Support the ongoing development of all aspects of the Information Services PMO, including the PMO SharePoint Hub, project lists (requested, pipeline, active and archived), project documentation templates, adopted methodology and associated guidance, training materials, etc.
  • Required to undertake projects of a similar nature as reasonably required by the PMO Manager

Skills/Experience Required;

  • Significant experience of project or programme management, and of managing multiple projects simultaneously, in a large complex organisation.
  • Proven knowledge and experience of working with a recognised project or programme management methodology, such as PRINCE2, P3O, APM, etc.
  • Proven experience of identifying and documenting user/business requirements through a variety of approaches.
  • Significant experience of coordinating and leading project boards and other governance activities, including the routine and regular reporting of project/programme progress.
  • Excellent understanding and experience of technologies, including MS Project suite, SharePoint, O365 and other related tools.
  • Experience of business process redevelopment and change management.
  • Experience of effective leadership and coordination of staffing resources.
  • Experience of managing and reporting on budgets.
  • Proven excellent communication skills including the ability to write clear and concise documents and the ability to deliver presentations to senior staff with confidence and authority.
