Job description

Morgan Hunt is delighted to be partnering with a Higher Education client in Glasgow in their search for a CAD and Records Technician. This will suit someone with first class communication skills and previous CAD and Records experience.

This is a 12 month temp contract.

Job Purpose:

Responsible for keeping all as built and statutory maintenance record information of the University Estate.

Preparing and updating documents including undertaking surveys and preparing drawings. building information models and data sheets.

To manage data transfers and updates from University records, building Information models and other record information between relevant stakeholders including the University, design teams, contractors, and other stakeholders as part of the Soft landings process.

Duties and Responsibilities ( includes but not limited to )

  • Prepare schematic infrastructure plans, dimensional drawings, installation drawings and more complex drawings (plant engineering) as required in the absence of any as built information.
  • Plan, organise and carry out a range of defined site measurements/CAD drawing work and other technical procedures (eg: upload data into estates integrated works management system), using specialist equipment and techniques.
  • Revise and update existing drawings and asset records reflecting changes and completed work.
  • Ensure records are available for relevant Facilities Services staff, maintenance contractors and other stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to Facilities Services colleagues, consultants and contractors and ensure the correct use, update and version control of record drawings, asset information etc.
  • Manage the effective transfer of data and record updates as part of the Soft Landings process and project handovers.
  • Receive and validate drawings, records and data sets from Building Information models and other data sources into the managed systems.
  • Establish and maintain filing guidelines for health and safety files, drawings, M&E records, test certificates, compliance records and other statutory documents.

Experience and capability

  • Basic understanding of building construction and building services.
  • High level of competence in the operation of AutoCAD.
  • High level of computer literacy including the ability to use AUOTCAD, Microsoft related products for word-processing and spread sheets.
