Morgan Hunt has been engaged by an organisation to recruit a Facilities Operations Manager based in Edinburgh

Ideally, you will have an FM operational background from education, commercial property OR large estates operation with strong team management and leadership skills. This opportunity will require the successful individual to provide strategic leadership with a focus on driving customer service throughout its functions and facilities activity.

Duties and responsibilities (includes but not exclusive to)

  • You will be responsible for managing facilities services to ensure effective customer-focused activity is delivered against agreed targets and budget.
  • You will manage and lead a team responsible for delivering maintenance, engineering, catering, reception, and the transport fleet.
  • You will liaise with various stakeholders across the sites to ensure services and facilities are being delivered to the highest standards,
  • Oversee and manage FM contractors to ensure SLAs are delivered against robust KPIs.
  • You will work closely with Health & Safety and Quality experts.
  • Ensure that staffing levels are appropriate, leading and managing the team to prioritise effectively.
  • Create and develop a customer service culture that provides end users with a first in class service for engagement/helpfulness/fault resolution/interaction using feedback to improve service
  • Help-desk management and customer service meetings
  • CAFM system development for preventative maintenance and scheduling
  • Ensure services provided by external contractors are managed and monitored effectively.
  • Manage detailed records for robust governance compliance process.
  • Responsible for the management of a specified range of budgets.
  • The post holder is required to carry out his/her role in accordance with the organisation's values, standards and behaviours, in a professional, compassionate, respectful and safe way.
  • Have responsibility for the Health, Safety and Welfare always in line with the Health and Safety Regulations, Policies and Procedures.

Knowledge, Qualifications:

  • Qualification in facilities management is preferred or significant professional experience within a similarly complex environment
  • Technical knowledge of facilities management and operational support functions
  • Passionate about customer service and consistently delivering excellence.
  • Solid understanding of working safely, permit to work systems
  • Good understanding of CAFM systems or Maintenance management systems
  • Strong knowledge of budgetary management
  • Strong working knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation
  • Significant senior leadership and management experience within a complex customer-facing environment
  • Experience of leading the implementation and embedding of a formal customer service framework.
  • Good operational understanding of general building operations
