This post is open to women only and is exempt under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 and subject to PVG disclosure checks.

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Resource Worker based in Glasgow. This is ideally a FT role but the organisation would consider part time ie 2.5 or 3 days. You will be working for a "small and mighty" organisation with a team of dedicated hard working staff who have a high level of knowledge and who have massively improved the lives of many young women who have experienced childhood sexual abuse/exploitation or violence.

The main duties of the role are:

  • To provide a crisis and emotional support service to survivors, 16-25 years, of childhood sexual abuse/exploitation, rape/sexual assault and/or other forms of sexual violence, including commercial sexual exploitation, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
  • To provide direct 1:1 emotional support and psycho education around abuse (from a feminist perspective) and links to homelessness that will prevent the repetitive cycles of homelessness and abuse YW experience by building the skills resources, resilience YW need to make their lives more manageable.
  • To provide trauma informed motivation and positivity to the young women to encourage personal development, Independence and change to the level they wish on a person centered and solution focused basis.
  • To access and make referrals for additional practical supports both internal and external to maximise support and recovery

Essential Experience/skills

  • An understanding of Mens Violence against Women and Girls (MVAWG) and ability to work from a feminist perspective in all aspects of role.
  • A relevant qualification in counselling and/or Community Education, housing, Social Work or other related field.
  • Holding or Working towards SVQ level3 Health and Social care or equivalent.
  • At least 1 years' experience and skills in providing individual emotional/psychological support work involving CSA, MVAWG, or Trauma.
  • Experience of working directly and creatively with young people individually and in groups
  • Ability to maintain a non-victim blaming, trauma informed and pro-active solution focused approach.
  • Experience of liaising, networking and building relationships with other agencies
  • Experience advocating on behalf of young people
  • High level interpersonal skills, good verbal and written communications.
