Job description

Morgan Hunt are working with a leading world-famous organisation who are based in St Andrews, Fife. The organisation have a very good reputation, and look after their staff.

The key areas of responsibility for the Project Manager are:

  • Leading significant and complex projects to deliver new services to meet the objectives in the organisation and local strategic plans.
  • This will include managing the design, plan, and delivery of the projects.
  • This will involve developing and putting forward proposals for approval by the relevant senior management team.
  • Providing comprehensive professional advice and cascading expertise on programme and project management to senior managers across the organisation to enable the successful delivery of individual projects.
  • Leading the development and delivery of project management methods, in line with best practice in the industry for all projects, including the provision of innovative solutions and responsibility for the quality control and quality assurance of the methodology.
  • The post holder will be required to deliver a wide range of projects across the organisation including IT development and implementation, business change, and service delivery, and to provide comprehensive advice on project management to senior staff.
  • The post holder is required to have sufficient knowledge and experience of project management to enable them to play an important role in furthering the long-term development of professional project management practices.

Experience Required: -

  • Project governance and portfolio management of projects across IT Services. Including responsibility for the project management methodology and provision of information, advice, and templates to support effective project management.
  • Management of complex, strategic projects in IT Services and across Professional Services.
  • Support for Project Managers across the to deliver projects, particularly those with IT components.
  • Demand management, including engaging with departments/teams across IT Services to enable decision-making with regard to resource management.
  • Management, guidance, and reporting on financial and procurement activities within IT Services, both at an operational and strategic level.

Main duties:-

  • Project Management Taking on the role of Project Manager for the range of projects within the remit of the organisation
  • Leading and managing significant and complex projects across the organisation is the major part of the post holder's responsibility involving the following aspects:
  • Using the Project Office Prince2 methodology and the use of Agile methodologies where appropriate
  • Setting up of project boards and project teams
  • Working with the executive and customers to assess and interpret customer needs and to define the objectives and deliverables of the project
  • Implementing stakeholder management and maintaining regular contact with stakeholders to understand requirements, generate and negotiate solutions and ensure these requirements are delivered
  • Planning and managing the work of the project team to ensure compliance with the project brief.
  • Assessing risks and maintaining logs of current issues and risks
  • Responsible for the monitoring of project budgets, delivery of projects on-time, within budget and of appropriate quality
  • Ensuring that all projects are fully costed, and funding approved in line with procedures.
  • Liaising with external suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of goods to agreed price and quality.
  • Ensuring that correct procurement procedures are followed and that budgetary regulations are adhered to.
  • Ensuring best value is obtained for all projects.
  • Identify the impact on other projects and co-ordinates with other project managers to resolve issues Project Management best practise and expertise
  • Advising or coaching staff in project management techniques, software, tools and specifically the project methodology
  • Quality assurance to ensure a consistent level of project management and documentation across all projects.
  • Developing techniques and expertise to aid in good project management, such as estimating techniques, risk analysis, benefits realisation, contingency planning.

  • Up to £45,000
