Job description

We have a current opportunity for 2 x Service Manager's on a permanent basis for our public sector client in Edinburgh's city centre. 1 of the positions is a 3 year Fixed-Term opportunity currently with the strong likelihood of being extended.

Salary: £35-42k

Annual Leave: Circa 40 Days

Pension: 21% Employer pension contribution

Work Pattern: 2 in the office, 3 from home

Duties Include;

  • Provide operational service management across a broad range of centrally provided media services. This may include supporting service users via a call management system, communicating about service issues, developing and running training, writing service definitions and KPIs and negotiating with internal and external suppliers.
  • Manage a team of student interns working as part of the team. This includes implementing consistent quality assurance processes, process monitoring and ensuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained to meet agreed service levels.
  • Run regular institution-wide user groups to seek feedback and suggestions for service improvements. Analyse user needs and service improvement ideas, propose innovative solutions, and disseminate authoritative knowledge and best practice on process, policy and existing plans for the services
  • Provide regular service updates to senior managers, highlighting service usage and trends, changes, issues and improvements

Skills/Experience Required;

  • Good understanding of the structure, technology and business requirements of a public sector organisation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the proven ability to influence, guide and challenge senior staff and deliver persuasive reports and presentations
  • Demonstrable user focus with confidence and energy to drive user oriented change
  • Knowledge of related standards and regulations, and their application (data protection, accessibility, IMS specifications, etc).
  • Experience of delivering media services within a wider IT service environment.
  • Experience in managing or mentoring other colleagues.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant aspects of design and delivery of media services and good service management awareness e.g. how to introduce and gain user acceptance of new services.
