Job description

Morgan Hunt are currently recruiting for a Data Engineer on behalf of our public sector client based in Dundee.

Salary; £42k - £52k

The role holder will proactively manage and develop the organisation's Data Warehouse, including the extraction, transformation, and load of data from a disparate set of source systems. They will work with colleagues to ensure that the Data Warehouse is fit-for-purpose, secure, and future-proof for the ever-changing technological and business landscape.


  • Design and develop new and maintain/improve existing ETL processes in the Data Warehouse
  • Develop and support Oracle SQL and PL/SQL procedures
  • Resolve data issues together with customers when planning and developing data solutions
  • Work with colleagues in other IT teams and customers to gather data requirements and translate these into implementation plans, providing technical work estimates and task breakdown
  • Recommend new and best-practice future solutions for the Data Warehouse and related technology
  • Assist in training colleagues on data manipulation, transformation, and automation techniques
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation to describe any changes to the data warehouse. Provide information and prepare reports, guidelines and procedures of a strategic or complex technical nature
  • Line management duties in accordance with role and grade
  • Deputise for the relevant line manager when required


  • Proven experience of managing and developing a data warehouse
  • Proven experience of using an enterprise-level ETL tool such as Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), Informatica PowerCenter, or Alteryx Designer
  • Proven experience in using SQL and PL/SQL
  • Experience of ETL/ELT design
  • Working knowledge of Rest APIs, their structure, and how to extract data into the warehouse
  • Knowledge of SaaS and cloud-based data warehouses and systems
  • Understanding of the systems and software development lifecycles; software management approaches, requirements design and test techniques
  • Proven ability to produce comprehensive supporting documentation
  • Proven ability to work well with others and support others within the team to achieve business objectives
  • Familiarity with data security principles and GDPR
