AWS Engineer
This leading public sector organisation require an AWS Engineer, In this role, you will join a team of infrastructure specialists and engineers, focusing on building, administering, supporting, and maintaining solutions with an emphasis on our AWS environment and cloud security. Your responsibilities will include:
- Recommending security controls, advising on critical security-related technologies, and assessing risks associated with proposed changes.
- Ensuring that cloud services are integrated, delivered, secured, and operated as required.
- Contributing to overall management, including workforce planning, budgeting, technology roadmaps, and project tasks.
- Working with the Service Desk to ensure timely resolution of tickets related to cloud infrastructure services and providing guidance and support.
This organisation invests in the latest technology, and the majority of this role will involve supporting our cloud-based infrastructure, primarily AWS, with some involvement in Azure and on-premises infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with our Data Science and Engineering teams, as well as vendors, to introduce new solutions built on AWS, maintain our current infrastructure, and ensure cyber security across AWS and Azure cloud environments.
Job description
- Extensive experience in IT infrastructure and system design, including designing, implementing, testing, and supporting cloud-based infrastructure technologies.
- Proven expertise in AWS, encompassing Infrastructure as Code, AWS Security, monitoring, and automation.
- Strong development skills with proficiency in version control, scripting languages (e.g., Bash/Python), AWS security, monitoring, automation, and Docker & serverless technologies.
- In-depth knowledge of information security, including implementing security controls to mitigate threats, with a strong focus on cloud security and vulnerability remediation.
- Skilled in identifying and resolving patterns and trends in technical issues, handling 3rd line escalations, consulting with specialists as needed, and implementing preventative measures.
- Thorough understanding of technical concepts relevant to the role and how they integrate into the broader technical landscape, with the ability to make strategic and tactical recommendations confidently.
- Demonstrated commitment to staying current with future developments in cloud computing and experience with re-platforming and transformation projects.
