SEND Administrator

£28000 - £28001 per annum

Job description

Morgan Hunt are working with Lewisham College as we have a current opportunity for a SEND Administrator on a permanent basis.

Duties to include:

  • To create and maintain learner records, in particular local authority consultations, annual reviews, recruitment, enrolment, and progression data.
  • To ensure an accurate flow of data to common College systems, including student enrolment and achievement data, budgets, staff data, Itrent HR data, room and staff utilisation.
  • To champion new and existing college systems and train or ensure training is provided for all departmental staff.
  • Organise and maintain an efficient and confidential filing and retrieval system.

Customer Service:

  • To deal with email and telephone enquiries from parents, local authorities, students transport.
  • To deal with students in a sensitive manner.
  • To support learners with office-based work experience


  • Provide an effective, efficient, and confidential service to the Departmental team.
  • To prioritise work accordingly
  • Manage correspondence including replying to letters and emails and drafting replies for non-routine correspondence.
  • To monitor information flows daily and take action where necessary.
  • Deal with sensitive information in a strictly confidential and professional manner.
  • Arrange meetings and other events
  • To supervise and support temporary administrative placements as necessary/required
  • Provide support and participate in Enrolment and any cross-college activities when required
  • To assist with diary scheduling, organising appointments and arranging meetings.
  • Service committees and other meetings including taking minutes/notes and ensuring effective follow up action is taken by managers
  • Produce quality documents in line with corporate standards
  • Arrange travel, accommodation, and other bookings
  • Maintain the department's Oyster card system
  • Order and organise stationary
  • Raise purchase orders and process invoices using the College system and monitor budgets as directed by the Director of Faculty

Experience required:

  • Experience of successful front-line customer relations
  • Recent experience of working in a similar administrative job
  • Experience of using IT systems, including, spreadsheets, databases, email and word-processing
  • Experience of/confidence in operating finance and HR administration procedures using an on-line system
  • Experience of working within the Education sector, in particular SEND

  • Flexibility and a capacity to prioritise effectively to work to deadlines
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to work with limited supervision
  • The ability to learn and understand complicated regulations
  • The ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels across the College and with outside agencies
  • Good Interpersonal skills
