Senior Information Governance Analyst

Job description

Morgan Hunt are currently working with one of the UK's most established Health Regulatory Bodies in their search for a Senior Information Governance Analyst to provide advice across the organisation, ensure compliance with information rights legislation, and ensure development of frameworks, policies and procedures.

You will lead and coordinate the handling of a range of requests (including FOIs and SARs), conduct DPIAs, while providing advice across the organisation relating to information governance (including the procurement function). You will deputise for the DPO and Governance & Assurance Manager, including line management responsibilities.

You will undertake complex information governance analysis and advisory work covering data protection and privacy, records management, information security, and transparency - including developing frameworks, policies and procedures, developing and providing training, managing breaches and reporting on compliance and performance.

This role would be ideal for someone with experience in Information Governance and Data Protection across the healthcare and public sectors. You will have the ability to manage a range of requests and breaches, while developing policies, procedures and frameworks relating to information governance.

You will have strong analysis, communication and organisational skills with the ability to advise across an organisation and report on compliance and performance. You will have experience assessing information governance risks and conducting DPIAs.

Location: Remote/London

Salary: £38,000 - £44,000

Job Type: FTC contract (9 - 12 months)

Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities

  • To lead and coordinate the handling of all requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act and those made under rights in data protection legislation, including those of a complex nature.
  • To lead information governance advice to the procurement function. You must also act as information governance advisor on procurement panels.
  • To deputise for the Data Protection Officer, covering all statutory aspects of this work, including acting as the contact point with the ICO and reporting to the CEO.
  • To deputise for the Governance and Assurance Manager. This includes supervision of other team members.
  • To undertake complex information governance analysis and advisory work covering data protection and privacy, records management, information security, and transparency:
    • Developing and implementing measures to continuously improve compliance with data protection legislation
    • Assessing information governance risks, carrying out data protection impact assessments, analysing findings and recommending solutions to reduce risks
    • Providing advice and promoting good practice
    • Developing and facilitating training and developing intranet content whilst also developing policies and procedures
    • Monitoring and reporting on compliance and performance
    • Responding to breaches and incidents, carrying out investigations and making recommendations on improvements to prevent recurrence

Personal Specification

  • Significant experience of applying data protection legislation in an information governance role.
  • Significant experience of responding to Freedom of Information and data protection requests in a health or regulatory environment.
  • Proven ability to research complex issues, summarise findings, advise and make recommendations on options and associated risks.
  • Excellent organisational skills to enable delivery under pressure and make sure statutory deadlines are met.
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, under pressure, on own initiative and able to prioritise workload
  • Collaborative in approach.
  • Able to see the bigger picture and consider information governance in the context of wider organisational strategy.
  • Hold a recognised data protection qualification.
