Job description

Interim HR Manager (Maternity Cover)

To provide the college with an operational HR service for area of responsibility through the management of the HR team ensuring the delivery of a best in class HR service including recruitment, payroll, employee relations, absence management, employment compliance and employee health and wellbeing.

. Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of the department plan and associated objectives.
  • Provide professional and consistent advice across a range of HR areas, including pay and performance, wellbeing, disciplinary, grievance and capability.
  • Effectively manage employment relations cases through to resolution ensuring compliance with legislation and College policy.
  • Oversee day to day HR administrative operations ensuring compliance with all pre-vetting and safeguarding requirements.

Line Management

  • Manage and develop the core HR team reporting to the role including the coordination of team activity, setting objectives, mentoring and supervision.

Line Manager support

  • Partner with and support managers to coach and guide around employee relations and performance management issues and engagement best practice.
  • Provide support to the Head of HR for reorganisations including role changes, redundancies, changes to terms and employment and TUPE exercises
  • Support managers with staffing establishment planning requirements.

Recruitment and Selection of Staff

  • Manage the recruitment and selection process including:
  • Agree with the manager concerned the scope of each vacancy to be filled and to develop an agreed job description and person specification
  • Ensuring that the recruitment and appointment process is timely and effective
  • Briefing and coaching managers as appropriate in recruitment and selection procedures
  • Ensuring Single Central Record and other compliance checks are undertaken
  • Support the Head of HR with workforce development plans

Employee Relations

  • Advise managers where necessary and support the disciplinary and grievance processes
  • Coordinate the exit interview process, providing analysis and feedback.
  • Analyse staff surveys and devise action plans
  • Employee feedback on performance

HR Data Metrics

  • Responsible for the production and analysis of HR data metrics including
  • Monthly data including turnover, sickness, training, diversity data
  • Producing appropriate reports and management information as requested

Learning and Development

  • Oversee the Learning and Development function
