Senior Business Intelligence Analyst

Birmingham - Hybrid working

Permanent opportunity offering up to £40k PA

I'm working with an established Education client who have an exciting opportunity for a Senior BI Analyst to join the team and support the organisations strategic and key operational objectives by developing and maintaining funding and financial systems, reports, views and data sets.

Devising and publishing data, analytics and process solutions the post holder will enable the organisation to access timely funding metrics, providing insight-driven decision-making and increased operational performance and efficiency.

Your Responsibilities:

  • As a Senior BI Analyst you will develop, implement and maintain the 4Cast business planning software, ensuring data is accurate, timely, consultative and reflective of business planning requirements
  • Review, refine and publish reports and data to monitor funding against multiple funding agency streams.
  • Review, refine and publish reports and data to monitor income, costs, contribution and other financial metrics.
  • Support the development of self-service and automated processes to deliver accurate and timely information to internal stakeholders, including data dashboards and data validations, using SQL and BI tools.
  • Manage and develop the 4Cast business planning system, ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal data publishing timelines.
  • Work innovatively and proactively to make better use of data to deliver our business objectives, essential to funding monitoring and business planning.
  • As a member of the Systems and Reporting team, review, support and develop wider reporting infrastructure.
  • Provide support to and deputise for the Systems and Reporting Manager, as required
  • Evidence and apply an effective knowledge of funding and funding regulation in the further education sector, including ESFA, WMCA (or other devolved), OfS, Apprenticeships, ALS and others.
  • Working closely with the Finance team, devise, test and publish reporting and visuals to continuously monitor financial metrics and their integration with funding data, including income, course costs, contribution and others.
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement in business and systems processes, and specify, design, develop and implement solutions, across all MI areas.
  • Be the primary product owner, developer and first-line support for the 4Cast business planning system, ensuring content is accurate, timely and accessible.
  • Ensure full compliance with the business planning cycle, engaging with stakeholders at all levels to test, commit and publish the planned provision periodically.
  • Maintain up to date awareness of developments in management information technologies and business intelligence, applying them as required.
  • Provide training and support on 4Cast, business planning processes, and custom reports and functionality, including at internal development events.
  • With IT and the Systems and Reporting Manager, ensure that any MI solutions comply with GDPR and access permissions are secured using current best practice.
  • Ensure links to various supporting database systems, such as those use by Finance, are maintained and optimised.
  • Deputise for and provide explicit support to the Systems and Reporting Manager at key meetings and events.
  • Provide training, guidance and support to the organisations community as required.

A successful candidate will have:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or proven relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' previous experience in a data analysis, BI or systems development role.
  • Technical experience in delivering BI solutions using recognised industry tools, preferably Power BI.
  • Evidenced knowledge of FE Funding including Study Programmes, AEB, Apprenticeship and ALS provision.
  • Minimum 3 years' working experience and knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience of working collaboratively and proactively with colleagues towards shared objectives.
  • An operational understanding of or experience using ProSolution, Proachieve and Curriculum systems such as ProMonior, 4Cast, Smart Assessor and other systems within MIS function.
  • Knowledge and experience in using management information systems and databases
  • Ideally having experience in the FE sector.
