Interim HR Manager, 12-18mth FTC (maternity cover) - Education

We have a current opportunity for an Interim HR Manager to join a fantastic HR Team working for a well-established Higher Education institution based in Leicestershire.

The position is to cover a period of maternity with the possibility of extension.

This role will offer flexibility and will allow working from home.

Role

Reporting in the Head of HR the HR Manager will lead a team of 5 and be responsible for the day to day operational activities of the department including employee relations, absence management, employment compliance and employee health and wellbeing, recruitment and onboarding, in addition to strategic HR Project work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage employment relations cases through to resolution
  • Manage and develop the core HR team, coordination of team activity, setting objectives, mentoring and supervision.
  • Partner with and support managers to coach and guide around employee relations and performance management issues
  • Provide support to the Head of HR for reorganisations including role changes, redundancies, changes to terms and employment and TUPE exercises
  • Support managers with staffing establishment planning requirements. Recruitment and Selection of Staff
  • Responsible for the production and analysis of HR data metrics including turnover, sickness, training, diversity data
  • Act as the HR representative on the college Equality and Diversity Forum
  • Assist with the review and update appropriating of policies/procedures to ensure legislative compliance and the promotion of excellence.
  • Support the Head of HR with trade union relationships

Key Skills and Experience

  • Chartered CIPD or working towards
  • Experience of working in a complex, generalist HR provision
  • Experience of working in a busy, high demanding HR department and of delivering proactive, business focused solutions.
  • Experience of successfully managing organisational change programmes including TUPE
  • Employee relations experience ideally gained in unionised environment Good knowledge of UK employment law
