Job description

Morgan Hunt are currently assisting a highly reputable Further Education and Training College in Newcastle to recruit a Sports Psychology Coach. The successful candidate will deliver the 'Support Work in Schools and Colleges' short course at Levels 1, 2 & 3. This position is a temporary-ongoing contract that is anticipated to last until July 2022, with the view to continue in the new academic year.

The Sports Psychology Coach will be responsible for:

  • Delivering the full Further Education and Training specification in STLS (Support Work in Schools and Colleges)
  • Planning and coordinating lessons, resources and support to enable learners to achieve their qualifications
  • Using the College's online systems to track progress and attendance
  • Quality delivery of interactive lessons to learners with clear lesson objectives
  • Motivate and inspire learners using up-to-date teaching methodology
  • Set and monitor regular, challenging homework in line with student abilities
  • Keep in line with quality assurance (collect learner views, lesson observation, working through action plan)
  • Attend meetings and any training days/inset days
  • Ensure accurate completion of class registers at all times, stay on top of admin work and marking
  • Any other duties as required by the College

The Sports Psychology Coach will:

  • Have substantial experience in the Further Education and Training sector
  • Hold a UK recognised teaching qualification (DTLLS, PCET, PGCE or QCF Level 5 Diploma in Education)
  • Have previous experience working as a Sports Psychology Coach and a successful track record in retention and achievement
  • Hold a Level 3 or above qualification in the subject area
  • Hold GCSEs in both Maths and English, at grade A-C or equivalent
  • A valid DBS registered with the online update service or be willing to apply for a new one
  • A proven track record of consistently good/outstanding teaching
  • Be able to travel to, in and around the Newcastle area

In return the successful candidate for the Sports Psychology Coach role will receive:

  • An hourly rate of up to £20.13 per hour, depending on experience
