Housing First Worker

Up to £24087.25 per annum


The Housing First England project has been working to support and grow a national movement of Housing First services since 2016, improving the lives of some of society's most vulnerable people. Locally, Housing First is a defined approach to ending homelessness, which provides individuals with a permanent offer of independent, stable housing and open-ended wrap-around support.

Morgan Hunt are delighted to be working with a local charity who are looking for a Housing First Project Worker to join their team. This is a Fixed Term Contract to run until March 2022 (37 hours per week) and covers Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Greater Manchester.

The role - Housing First Worker

  • Completing initial assessments of referrals to the service to check eligibility
  • Delivering intensive, wrap-around support to people with multiple and complex issues within their own independent tenancies in the community
  • Supporting individuals with complex needs facing multiple exclusion through a person centred, strength based, support service regularly reviewing, monitoring and updating support plans
  • Creating long-term sustainable tenancies by increasing independence and maximising connectivity with the local community
  • Liaising with landlords to assist the person living in accommodation of their choice; including practical help with furniture; benefits advice and accompanied visits

The candidate

  • At least 2 years, full-time (or part time equivalent) proven experience of empowering people with multiple, complex support needs (e.g. mental health, homeless, substance abuse and offending behaviour)
  • The confidence and experience to assess and manage risk
  • Knowledge and understanding of the services and provision generally available for vulnerable and homeless people in crisis
  • Experience of liaising with other agencies to facilitate access to support including Adult Social Care, Criminal Justice services, Health services, employment and training agencies
  • Excellent personal communication skills when working with vulnerable people in order to build rapport and encourage informed choice
  • Experience of using a case management system to ensure accurate up to date records against individual support plans

Due to the nature of this role, an Enhanced DBS is required for the role of Housing First Worker and a car driver with access to a car for work is essential.
