Morgan Hunt are thrilled to be working with a North West charity who provide housing and support to young and vulnerable people across Merseyside. They provide a range of services which tailor support to the needs and goals of each individual, helping them to gain life skills and achieve independence. An interim opportunity has arisen within their Parental Assessment Unit in St. Helens. This is an ongoing contract to start as soon as possible.

Amongst other services, the charity provides a Parental Assessment Unit within the Residential Family Centre (Ofsted registered) which supports parents looking to increase and improve their parenting skills and strengths, whilst addressing any areas of concern of development. The Centre provides assessments within a residential environment for those experiencing difficulties in parenting their babies or young children, possibly linked to ongoing care proceedings. Typically, assessments are delivered over a 12-week period and offer comprehensive and individualised packages of care and support. The service is registered for 2 families and there is a support service based at the same facility for 5 families.

The role:

As a Scheme Manager for the Parental Assessment Unit you will be responsible for high quality service delivery.

  • Manage, lead, develop and motivate staff teams
  • Ensure effective and relevant housing related support is provided to clients to enable them to maintain their accommodation and achieved future aspirations for successful independent living
  • Ensure scheme is adequately staffed
  • Ensure policies and procedures are effectively implemented
  • Manage anti-social behaviour in partnership with staff - to undertake restorative meetings and apply warnings, terminations and evictions procedures
  • Ensure high quality, person centred support is offered to all clients in line with regularly reviewed support plans
  • Ensure applications processes run effectively - waiting lists are maintained, bed spaces are allocated appropriately
  • Deliver casework supervision to staff members - managing and monitoring the quality of service delivered to all clients
  • Complete all staffing related paperwork - supervision, absence, expenses, induction etc

The candidate

This a varied and demanding, hands on role, requiring the timely, professional and appropriate responses to the needs of vulnerable and socially excluded individuals.

You will have the ability to listen, understand and be supportive of clients and staff members.

Experience of working within housing, care and support, floating support and / or residential setting is essential for this role and the post holder must hold a Level 5 in Leadership and Management in Residential Children's Setting due to the service being Ofsted registered. Along with a proven track record, you will understand best practise in relation to service delivery within the housing, care and support sector.
