Data Protection Support Officer

£30000 - £31000 per annum

Job description

Morgan Hunt are currently working with a high-profile Regulatory Body, in their search for an interim Data Protection Support Officer to lead on the guidance, completion and tracking of DPIA's across the organisation.

You will also be responsible for developing a tracker to monitor outcomes and risk of DPIAs, while ensuring these are completed where necessary. You will be heavily involved in supporting and advising colleagues on data protection matters including maintenance of all trackers and recording of any breaches and issues.

The successful candidate will have strong communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills. You will have experience working within Data Protection - particularly with strong experience around DPIA's within the Regulatory or Charity sector.

You will be required to attend the Liverpool-based office 1 or 2 days a week once the office has returned. The 31000opportunity will offer the potential for extension, along with other internal opportunities.

Job Title: Data Protection Support Officer

Location: Hybrid (Liverpool-based Office)

Annual Salary: £30,000 - £31,000

Job Type: Fixed-Term Contract (6 months, potential extension)

Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week or more)

Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the DPIA process, while monitoring risks.
  • Identifying where DPIAs are required, while supporting staff to complete these - giving advice and guidance.
  • Designing and developing a tracker to monitor outcomes and risk
  • Maintenance and management of all accountability trackers relating to data protection
  • Recording of data breaches and identifying lessons learned/ideas for improvement
  • Maintenance of the data protection dashboard, including reporting on performance
  • Supporting and advising colleagues on privacy notices and on data protection overall including compliance with the UK GDPR
  • Maintenance of our online DP resource centre for staff, as well as ensuring staff understand its use.

Personal Specification

  • Good working and practical knowledge of UK GDPR, DPA 18 with the ability to apply to a variety of situations.
  • Experience of working in, and advising on, data protection matters (particularly regarding completing DPIAs and recognising where they need to be completed)
  • Confident communicator with possess good negotiation skills to be able to deal with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Organised with the ability to manage competing priorities within their own workload.
  • Proactive and able to work on their own initiative
  • Ability to explain complex information simply to a range of audiences
