The Torfaen Learning Zone is the new centre for A-level study in Torfaen. It will provide a centre of excellence for over 23 A-level subjects as well as a wide range of vocational, professional and degree programmes. It is located in a prime location adjacent to the Morrison’s store in the centre of Cwmbran with excellent links to public transport and facilities in the town centre. It will serve all pupils in the borough and will become the pathway for Torfaen students into higher education, training and employment.
The Learning Zone has benefitted from £24 million of investment in a purpose built learning centre which will be the home of state-of-the-art facilities.
The college utilises a range of resources to assist lecturers in delivering excellent teaching, learning and assessment. You will benefit from teaching in spaces which have high levels of digital connectivity and physical and virtual resources. All lecturers will have access to a personal device to use in the college and at home. Alongside this the college has invested heavily in online learning spaces and is broadening its use of Canvas as a virtual learning platform to enhance classroom delivery. There will a broad range of training, induction and development CPD available to you, including the support of a learning mentor throughout your career with us
Cwmbran is just 30 minutes away from Cardiff or Hereford and 45 minutes from Bristol making it an easy commute. The recent removal of bridge fees and the electrification of the Great Western train line connecting Bristol and South Wales have made it even more accessible. Cwmbran train station is just a 5 minute walk from the Torfaen Learning Zone.

As a Lecturer you will be able to demonstrate that you are able to contribute to the high performance of teaching, learning and assessment at the college. You will be expected to teach a maximum of 12 hours per week out of an 18.5 hour a week contract and this may include evenings.
