Job Title: Commercial Manager (NEC Experience)

Location: Somerset

Contract: Temp - 6mths/ongoing

Your new job role

  • Developing a Commercial Team appropriate to the scale and phase of the contract / portfolio of contracts.
  • Assessing and engaging with the supply chain based on collaborative working principles and apply the skills of supporting, coaching, enabling and facilitating team members through change, thereby building and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Supporting the procurement process and Commercial Lead during the contract creation phase (pre-award) ensuring that the procurement programme for each contract is aligned to the Integrated Work Schedule (IWS) and that adequate time is allowed for an effective procurement process leading to signature of contract (SOC).
  • Ensuring all Principal Accountabilities for the contract commercial team are implemented in accordance with HPC commercial procedures.
  • Execution Phase
  • Leading and managing the execution phase of each contract to ensure compatibility and alignment across the portfolio and with other projects including: Scope of Work / Services and Associated Programme; Prices and Rates Schedules; Key Personnel and Arrangements for Contract Administration, incentive arrangements.
  • Providing commercial support to the Project Manager in the effective delivery of the contract, ensuring formal Contract completion and closure of all the Project Contracts in accordance with IMS, rules and procedures. This will ensure that all contracts are administered within delegation of authority and the overall NNB governance / assurance regime.

Your experience

  • Experience with most common Forms of Contract (NEC & FIDIC) within the power construction industry and major projects and programme environment; with knowledge of UK Law and its impact upon the contract and commercial function is essential.
  • Educated to degree level and a member of the RICS |CICES | IOB or equivalent professional body is essential.
  • Commercial and contract management skills, with clear knowledge of best practice contract methodologies.
  • Highly developed commercial skills and demonstrable ability to make sound decisions on matters of significant financial value.
  • Excellent understanding of contract performance measurement, risk management and change and claim management.
  • Familiar with the nuclear site licence conditions and the nuclear baseline philosophy.
  • Good understanding of the UK regulatory framework.
