Morgan Hunt are currently working with a Facilities Provider based in Cornwall, in their search for Mechanical Fitters. The role is an exciting opportunity for a mechanical fitter who has experience within the private sector.

Job Title: Mechanical Fitter

Location: Cornwall

Job Type: 3 month contract with the chance to go perm or be extended

Hours: Full-Time

Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities

  • Aircraft maintenance and ground support.
  • The individual will be responsible to their Supervisor, Line Manager and the Support Manager in the maintenance of the Merlin aircraft or the components in accordance with the published procedures and instructions.
  • Carry out the day to day workload activities as allocated by their Supervisors and as instructed by the Support Manager.
  • Complying with the Quality Manual, HSE policy and all site regulations.
  • To be authorised for first signature for own trade group.
  • To support the Support Manager in the operational performance, whilst maintaining a compliant, efficient, and effective operation in line with contractual commitments and customer working procedures.
  • Identify options to develop the customer base and provide our customers with innovative solutions and capability options to support their plans and business goals.
  • Ensure their currency requirements to fulfil current roles are identified to their Supervisor or Line Manager.
  • To have the ability to work a day's routine or a shift pattern in accordance with the Customer and operational requirements.
  • Contracted tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • The Line Manager is made aware of all business risks.
  • All verbal and written customer complaints and Quality issues are brought to the attention of the Supervisor or Line Manager.

  • Where applicable Customer Policy and Regulations applicable to their grade and position.
  • Company and Customer Environmental procedures.

Personal Specification

  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent.
  • Certificate or compliance or equivalent
  • Rotary background aviation background
  • 3 years' experience
  • An understanding of the IMOS regulatory governance applicable in an operational airworthiness environment.
  • Completed a Maintenance Human Factors Course.
  • Have an understanding of rotary wing military (aviation) procedures.
  • An understanding of Airworthiness Engineering Safety and Compliance iaw Regulatory and Legislative requirements (MAA).
  • A capability to work productively, efficiently & effectively with initiative and drive under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining operational outputs.

Previous experience and a good working knowledge of the following:

  • Merlin Aircraft Engineering and Aircraft Systems (Mechanical).
  • Merlin Aircraft Servicing and Support Equipment.
  • Lean Operating Procedures.
  • Naval Air Publications and Compound - Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (C-IETP).
  • Health and Safety, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations, Tool Control and Quality Practices.
  • An understanding of Engineering and Asset Management Systems.
