Dear Applicant,

I want to thank you for your interest in joining us at United Colleges Group. I am delighted that you have invested time in completing an application and are considering the Group for your future career.

United Colleges Group – only 3 years old since it was formed from the merger of two existing London based colleges in 2017 – has continued to provide strong education and skills support to the c16,000 learners who we serve every year. We have around 1,000 dedicated, skilled and enthusiastic staff who always put the needs of our students first and we are looking for you to join us.

Based across five sites in central and north London we have invested strongly in technology to support our learning, which led to a seamless transfer to online learning for our students when college campuses were forced to close earlier this year, and very positive feedback from our students about their online learning experience. Our very robust finances (rated as ‘Outstanding’ by the Education & Skills Funding Agency) mean that we are well set up to continue to invest more to meet the needs of those students in the future.

We know that the world of education was already changing before the outbreak of Covid-19, and the pace of that change is only likely to be increased by the changes it has forced on society. Increasingly our students will expect a combination of face to face and remote learning that meets their needs, and we need to be able to meet their expectations by embracing new technology and new pedagogical methods. ‘Physically separate, virtually together’ will be a mantra that underpins our strategy – reflecting the fact that every one of our students should feel part of our wider learning community, wherever they are based and however they are undertaking that learning.

To help support this strategy and ensure that we improve our OFSTED rating I have recently reviewed the leadership and management of United Colleges Group to better reflect our aspirations around the world of work by creating a series of Career Clusters and a Development & Innovation area led by 8 newly appointed Assistant Principals.

We are now looking for additional Curriculum Management to support the Assistant Principal roles and lead the transformational change that I believe is required to meet the changing needs of our learners. To this end we are going to market to recruit an additional 8 Curriculum Managers across the following areas:

  • Business
  • Computing Technologies
  • Construction & Building Services
  • HE Development & Curriculum Manager
  • Maths & Skills,
  • English & Skills
  • Additional Learning Support

We very much hope that you will consider joining us on this transformational journey as we aim to improve the life chances of all our students whilst being an active member of our local and pan London community.

Best wishes

Stephen Davis
Group Principal
