Thank you for expressing an interest in a career with Dorset Council’s children’s services.
There could not be a better time to join us as a social worker. Since my appointment to Executive Director for Children I’ve set about making the immediate changes needed to make Dorset the best place to be a child and a place where families are supported.
We’ve had our challenges and I’m fully aware that in order for a service to improve, things must be done well from the top down. That’s why I’ve now hired an experienced and permanent senior leadership team to assist me in my goal to make Dorset a county where children can thrive.
As well as this we’ve redesigned our service to focus on building and maintaining relationships with our children, our communities and with each other. We’re doing this through locality based working in multi professional teams.
Making positive change takes the right people and the right attitudes. I’m looking to hire compassionate social workers who use a relationship based approach to social work and fit in with our values and ambition. You’ll be asked to put in a lot of hard work but in return you’ll be given a supportive management structure who are invested in your career development.
I genuinely believe that Dorset has the ability to be an outstanding authority in delivering great services to all of its children and families. We are not there yet but this is an opportunity for social workers to join an authority that is on a journey to be delivering good services to everybody.
If this sounds like a journey you want to be a part of, we would welcome your application.
Good luck and I hope to see you in one of our teams soon.
