We want staff to feel part of the college from day one, so all new staff receive a college induction which starts before you even enter the doors. This includes:
A pre-employment online staff induction training session which incorporates topics such as safeguarding, equality and diversity, health and safety, IT safety, GDPR and Prevent.
A Human resources induction where you are advised about your salary, pension and the terms and conditions of your employment.
A line manager induction where you discuss your role, responsibilities and any training you may require.
A corporate induction where you get to meet the principal and the senior management team to learn about Chelmsford College’s values and priorities.
We take your personal and professional development seriously. We offer a comprehensive staff development programme across the year for all staff. There are ten full days of professional development, with a full week taking place in July. Depending on your particular needs you may be directed to attend certain sessions whilst others are open to all staff. In addition, there are weekly professional development sessions which enable the college to respond quickly to emerging issues or needs.
If you are a teacher or learning support staff member, you may be required to attain specific qualifications within an agreed timeframe after joining the college. We will support you to achieve this, either financially or by giving you time off to study. Depending on your individual needs, you may be able to attend specific training courses or external conferences that contribute towards your professional development.
Our Quality and Learning Team offers help and support to teaching staff in order to raise the standard of teaching, learning and assessment across the college. They organise professional development opportunities and promote good practice. Advanced Practitioners and specialist mentors work with all new teaching staff to provide help and advice. For those new to teaching we offer the Award in Education and Training as an introduction to teacher training.
