As it will become clear to you as you read through the pack and become more familiar with our organisation, the role of the Hospice Chief Executive is challenging and multi-dimensional requiring curiosity and agility.
 

The role includes strategy development with our Trustee Board, clinical and medical oversight, developing our income generation capability, financial control and building and maintaining positive relationships and partnerships within our stakeholder community. We therefore anticipate applicants from a wide range of backgrounds including from the NHS and the wider healthcare sector.

Our Hospice provides specialist palliative care for people with advanced progressive illnesses, and we work to address their physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs whilst preserving their dignity and respect. If we can properly address all these areas, through our high-quality care we believe we will have helped to enhance their quality of life whilst supporting their families and carers.
 

During 2022, the Hospice has been celebrating its 25th anniversary and it now operates from a state-of-the-art facility in Goldsworth Park, Woking which opened in 2017 and which houses a 20-bed in-patient unit, our Bradbury Wellbeing Centre and our Community nursing team. It is also the base for our fundraising and retail operations and general administrative support.
 

Our area of operation covers North West Surrey, serving a population of around 370,000 and working with partners in the healthcare sector, it is our ambition to ultimately reach as many people as possible who would benefit from our support.
 

Going some way towards this ambition, the Hospice is now the primary provider of specialist medical services and leads on the specialist palliative care agenda across North West Surrey. We work collaboratively with Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Trust and other Trust hospitals and are members of The North West Surrey Health and Care Alliance. The Alliance is a formal partnership of organisations working across health, local government, the voluntary and private sectors using their collective resources to deliver the best and most sustainable outcomes for our communities.
