
Finance Administrator
Pentagon Talent are partnering with A well-established law firm is seeking a Finance Administrator to join its Southampton based Finance team on a fixed-term contract. This is a varied and busy role where you'll provide vital support across transactions, accounts payable, reconciliations and client service, helping to ensure the smooth running of the firm's financial operations.
The role offers the opportunity to work in a professional legal environment, where accuracy, teamwork and excellent service to both colleagues and suppliers are key.
Key Responsibilities for the Finance Administrator:
- Transactions & Accounts Payable
- Process supplier invoices and payment requests promptly and accurately.
- Post outgoing payments and manage supplier queries.
- Perform supplier statement reconciliations and creditor control account checks.
- Monitor aged ledger items and support ongoing process improvements.
- Assist with ad hoc finance projects as needed.
- Financial Records & Reporting
- Maintain filing and archiving systems.
- Support with database administration and billing queries.
- Review monthly transactions as part of month-end reporting.
- Assist with internal financial allocations across different jurisdictions.
- Internal & External Support
- Handle internal enquiries (such as overdue invoices, expense queries and matter postings) in a professional manner.
- Prepare and distribute financial reports for internal teams.
- Produce and circulate remittances and supplier statements.
- Maintain and update supplier contact and standing data records.
What we're looking for:
- Previous experience in Accounts Payable or finance administration, ideally within a professional services or legal environment.
- Strong skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and Word); experience with finance systems such as 3E or Cosine would be beneficial.
- Excellent numeracy and attention to detail, with the ability to analyse data confidently.
- Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Highly organised, able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- A collaborative, team-oriented approach and a positive, helpful attitude.
- Able to commute to Southampton
