
Senior Legal Cashier
Pentagon Talent are partnering with a well-respected London law firm in search of an experienced Senior Legal Cashier to lead their busy cashiering function and ensure the smooth, compliant, and efficient running of all financial operations. This is a hands-on role overseeing a small team of two and offers the opportunity to play a key part in maintaining high standards of financial control and compliance.
The role is based at the firm's London office near Euston, this position requires you to be in the office five days a week. You will report directly to the Financial Controller and take responsibility for overseeing, supervising, and coordinating the work of the cashiering team. This includes ensuring that all financial transactions are processed accurately and in line with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules.
You will take ownership of the day-to-day cashiering operations, reviewing processes, resolving queries, and driving continuous improvement across the team. The role combines supervision, problem-solving, and hands-on processing within a collaborative and professional working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing the cashiering team and providing cover where required.
- Managing the cashier inbox and ensuring all requests are handled promptly.
- Conducting daily and monthly reconciliations, including client and office accounts.
- Monitoring suspense and charity donation ledgers.
- Managing residual client balances and unallocated receipts.
- Reviewing and authorising write-offs, and maintaining the breaches register.
- Setting up new users on relevant banking and payment systems.
- Posting invoices, BACS receipts, and managing Legal Aid payments.
- Supporting internal control reviews and recommending process improvements.
- Ensuring full compliance with SRA Accounts Rules.
The successful Senior Cashier will have:
- Proven experience supervising and managing a small team within a legal or professional services environment.
- Strong working knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules.
- Experience using electronic case management systems.
- Excellent attention to detail, numeracy, and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive, organised, and professional approach to work.
