The Opportunity:

A leading international law firm is seeking an experienced Head of Financial Crime to join its established Risk & Compliance function.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for a financial crime specialist to take a strategic lead across the organisation's AML, sanctions and wider financial crime framework, with significant responsibility for strengthening policies, controls, governance and processes across an international business.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation, providing expert advice on complex financial crime matters and helping shape the firm's approach to financial crime risk.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and develop the organisation's financial crime strategy and framework.

Provide senior expertise across AML, sanctions, KYC/CDD and wider financial crime matters.

Act as a key escalation point for complex and high-risk issues.

Lead and develop a team of financial crime and compliance professionals.

Develop and maintain effective financial crime policies, procedures and controls.

Monitor regulatory developments and advise senior stakeholders on their implications.

Support wider AML governance and regulatory requirements.

Oversee financial crime reporting, management information and risk monitoring.

Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems and financial crime controls.

Develop and deliver financial crime training and awareness across the organisation.


About You:

We are looking for a senior financial crime professional with 10+ years' experience across financial crime, AML and sanctions, ideally gained within a leading law firm, financial institution or professional services environment.

You will bring:

Strong knowledge of UK AML and financial crime regulation.

Proven experience leading and developing financial crime or compliance teams.

Experience developing and implementing financial crime policies, controls and governance frameworks.

Strong commercial judgement and the ability to operate effectively within a complex organisation.

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to engage at senior level.

Sound judgement when dealing with complex and sensitive financial crime matters.

Experience with onboarding, screening and compliance technology would be advantageous.
