Job Title: Hospital Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA)

Salary: Qualified £30,850 - Unqualified £28,810 (inc £2,800 London Weighting Allowance)
Contract: FTC with the potential to extend
Are you passionate about supporting people affected by domestic abuse? We're seeking a dedicated Hospital Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) to join our team based in a hospital setting, providing front line support to victims of domestic abuse in a fast-paced and critical health care setting.
About the Role
As a Hospital IDVA, you will work closely with health professionals and partner agencies to identify and support high-risk victims of domestic abuse. You'll carry out thorough risk assessments, deliver crisis intervention, and create tailored safety and support plans to empower clients and reduce risk.
You'll be embedded within the hospital, ensuring that domestic abuse is identified at the earliest opportunity and that victims receive immediate, expert support. This is a rewarding role that combines advocacy, safeguarding, and emotional support within a multi-agency environment.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and assess risks and needs using evidence-based tools.
Deliver individual safety planning, crisis intervention, and advocacy.
Provide practical and emotional support, including guidance on legal, housing, health, and financial matters.
Act as the client's voice in Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC).
Maintain accurate case records in line with data protection standards.
Work collaboratively with hospital staff and external agencies to ensure a coordinated response.
About You
Experience working directly with victims of domestic abuse or other vulnerable people.
Strong understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on individuals and families.
Knowledge of safeguarding practices, civil and criminal justice systems, and multi-agency working.
Confident in managing a complex caseload in a dynamic and emotionally demanding environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficient in IT systems, including case management software.
A relevant qualification or a commitment to complete SafeLives IDVA training within the first year of employment is required.
