    JOB DESCRIPTION

    MAIN PURPOSE OF POST

     

    The main duties and responsibilities for a Course Director include all of those for a Main Grade Lecturer (see list below), and the following additional responsibilities/duties:

    MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    The main duties and responsibilities for a Course Director include all of those for a Main Grade Lecturer (see list below), and the following additional responsibilities/duties:

     

    • To manage and oversee a range of courses within the learners’ programmes of study including work experience and enrichment, or apprenticeship, including collation of assignments, assessment planning, Schemes of Work, lead internal verification and lesson planning

    .

    • To link with employers and other organisations to provide enrichment / WEX activities for the students within the department

     

    • Where applicable to attend enrichment / fund raising / WEX activities linked to the public services employers outside of the standard working week such as evening and weekends.

     

    • Attend specific public services events such as simulated exercises, residential visits and remembrance day services

     

    • To lead and co-ordinate the course team to ensure excellence of service to the learner and the associated curriculum and staff development activities.

     

    • To take ownership of raising achievement rates including raising the performance in value added, progression and destination and reporting on this within the Self Assessment Process.

     

    • To effectively monitor, support and progress learners to ensure learner success in all aspects of their programme of study.

     

    • To effectively manage resources (human and physical) to ensure the learners’ needs are fully met and their experience of learning is not compromised.

     

    • To supervise and manage the work of associate/main grade lecturers and support staff involved in curriculum delivery, to include performance management and personal development reviews (PDR) and ensure full understanding, accuracy and accountability and use of all data, MIS and quality systems to maximise learner success.

     

    • In conjunction with the Faculty Head, to lead in the development of a responsive curriculum to meet local and regional needs and departmental and college strategic priorities.

     

    • To interface with the Apprenticeship Department and Employers to identify new and existing markets for growth and the meet the local and regional LEP

     

    • To assist the Faculty Head in managing devolved budgets as required.

     

    Main Grade Lecturer:

     

    • Meet and comply with the College’s strategic priorities and departmental objectives.

     

    • To deliver and run ‘Enrichment’ Activities alongside the main programme.

     

    • Produce Schemes of Work and assessment plans for a range of programmes to effectively support learners in achieving their full potential, to include:

     

    • Full commitment to embedding Equality and Diversity into every lesson and every programme

     

    • Ensuring that employability, employer engagement activities and ‘Enterprise’ (entrepreneurship) are embedded into the programmes, including ensuring that appropriate work experience is undertaken by learners (monitoring and tracking not arranging)

     

    • Deliver interesting and innovative learning and undertake assessment using a broad range of methods, taking full responsibility for the success of own learners, developing a personalised and holistic learning approach in all lessons. This will include developing and producing learning and assessment materials using E-Systems (VLE, Boodle, google classrooms and appropriate social media).

     

    • Guide/tutor learners through the learning process (action planning, reviews, progression), being accoun for target setting, action planning reviews and positive progression outcomes utilising the e-Individual Learning Plan very regularly, at least on a weekly basis.

     

    • Be fully accoun for the learner’s success, utilising data and the Management Information System, evaluating the quality of provision within the programme area and ensuring full compliance with all quality mechanisms and key performance indicators.

     

    • Ensure course/class data is provided to the Management Information System in a timely manner, including marking all registers at the start of lessons.

     

    • Ensure all delivery is resourced appropriately for learners.

     

    • Actively participate as a member of a course team and, if required, lead such a team.

     

    • Supervise the work of admin support and associate lecturer staff within the programme area.

     

    • Undertake assessment verification duties and, as required, act as Lead Verifier for a designated subject area.

     

    • Contribute to, and take full advantage of, curriculum and staff development activities, including those held outside of normal working hours.

     

    • Participate in all teaching, learning and assessment processes (especially lesson observations) and undertake necessary support/training.

     

    • Participate fully in the College performance management processes including recording CPD activities and maintaining objectives, ensuring they are up to date and evaluating input, including those related to lesson observation.

     

    • Be involved with learner recruitment via internal and external marketing and school liaison activities, including events outside normal College hours e.g. parent evenings, summer schools, off-site activities, welcome back treats, Business enterprise evening competitions, very occasional Saturdays.

     

    • Undertake administrative duties as requested by the College.

    MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    1.0 HUMAN RESOURCES FUNCTIONS

    To lead and manage the Human Resources Department staff, including recruitment, selection and development of this team and to have overall responsibility for the budgets associated with this Department.

    1.1 Strategic and High Level Operational Human Resources Activities

    To provide leadership and direction which ensures the college is at the forefront of good HR practice and recognised as an employer of choice, including:

    • provision of advice to the Board of Corporation and its Committees, the Senior Management Team and the Staffing Review Group on all HR matters and legislation requirements;
    • provision of advice, coaching support and judgment to managers regarding staff disciplinary/capability processes and grievance issues, ensuring managers are competent to fulfil their role in these aspects;
    • development of the college’s Human Resources policies, overseeing the development and updating of these, together with the associated procedures and practices;
    • production and delivery of an annual Business Plan and quality improvement plan;
    • delivery of HR staff development workshops for managers and staff;
    • managing ad hoc staffing projects such as reorganisations responding to strategic decisions.

     

    1.2 Human Resources Processes

    To be responsible for and manage the development and effective implementation of the full array of HR activities and administrative processes, including:

    • the software management information system (Software for People which is due to be replaced during 2023) and all computerised staffing information;
    • the accurate and timely production of Human Resources-related management information/statistical returns;
    • review/update as necessary contractual arrangements;
    • the college Performance & Development Review (appraisal) process;
    • long-term and persistent short-term sickness;
    • the administration of all parental leave benefits providing advice and guidance as appropriate;
    • staff benefits;
    • an exit interview system;

     

    1.3 Recruitment, Selection and Appointment Processes

    To be responsible for and manage the development and effective implementation of recruitment, selection and appointment processes, including:

    • ensuring line managers are supported and are competent to interview and select;
    • an effective induction process/system; the college’s probationary procedure;
    • the processes for checking all staff qualifications and processing Data and Barring Service (DBS) disclosures
    • act as lead DBS counter-signatory;
    • employment either by the college or its subsidiary, BCoT Professional Services Limited
    • entry into the two pension schemes for new members of staff, liaison with pensions bodies and referral as appropriate for advice and guidance;
    • operation of the college staff ID card process.

    Primary Job Purpose:

     

    To lead, manage and develop the HR team in the delivery of a transformational HR service across the College. This will include the implementation of key operational elements of the HR strategy, transformational and transactional responsibilities, ensuring the college is up to date and compliant with best practice in HR.     Principal Accountabilities:

     

    1. To be responsible for reviewing, improving and developing HR processes around policies and procedures, and contractual requirements, in relation to the employee life cycle.

     

    2. To provide a customer service driven ment focussed on meeting SLAs and operational KPIs across different delivery arms of the Colleges.

     

    3. To develop the HR Service Level Agreement, and manage the monthly monitoring system, ensuring that any proactive follow up action is taken.

     

     

    4. To be the lead on HR systems (iTrent) and processes and to improve service delivery and information through the development of key operational management reports and improved engagement and utilisation of technology.

     

    5. To develop policies and procedures that meet statutory and best practice requirements, ensuring that appropriate consultation is carried out, policies are approved and regularly reviewed, with effective communication processes in place.

     

    6. To meet with the relevant SLT members periodically to offer strategic advice and act as a sounding board in relation to any complex casework, advise managers on hard to fill vacancies; check and approve recruitment advertisements and packs; and be involved in selection panels

     

    7. To work with the Group Chief People Officer and other Senior Leaders to implement the College Organisational Development Strategy – this will include staff learning and development activities.

     

    8. To continually review performance management processes and outcomes using a variety of methods including appraisals, capability procedures, coaching and support, ensuring continuous performance improvement.

     

    9. To provide professional leadership and coaching to the HR team, monitor workloads of each team member and re-direct work where appropriate, and ensure that all staff are aware of developments affecting them.

    11. Drive innovation to ensure the continuous improvement and development of “fit for purpose tools” for the business and HR to use.

     

    12. To identify, develop and produce regular HRMI reports that support implementing further service improvements, enabling managers and staff to

    improve performance and efficiency across the organisation. This will include the HR Service Portal to deal with HR queries.

     

    13. To lead an effective recruitment service that is innovative, attracts high calibre candidates and successfully meets workforce requirements.

     

    14. To ensure that the Safeguarding, KCSIE and General Data Protection Regulations are implemented and compliance is maintained at all times.

     

    15. To lead the Senior HRBPs team in all ER cases, reviewing ER caseloads against agreed KPI’s, advising on complex ER matters and ensuring Managers and staff understand and comply with statutory requirements, Policy and best practice.

     

    16. To implement Health & Wellbeing strategies that support attendance, mental and physical well-being and improve staff satisfaction measures.

     

    17. To establish strong communication links with the recognised TU’s through the JCC and regular consultation and negotiation process.

     

    18. To contribute to organisation development and demonstrate improvements using employee engagement opportunities, staff surveys and staff recognition events.

    We are looking for a Content and Social Media Coordinator. You will help the team design a social media strategy and develop original content and suggest creative ways to attract more customers and promote our brand, increasing web traffic and customer engagement to support the achievement of the college’s strategic and financial targets.

     

    The post holder will be an experienced creative, content and PR communications specialist, with excellent writing skills responsible for the delivery of social media content, primarily focused at school leavers.

     

    Whilst this post is predominantly focused on PR and content creation, it will also provide the post holder with a fantastic opportunity to gain experience as an all-round marketer, supporting the team on events and production of marketing collaterals.

     

    Enthusiasm, creativity and organisation skills are fundamental to this role. You must be passionate about marketing and have a keen eye for detail to analyse data and spot trends.
