SEND/LLDD Lecturer - Oxford
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEND/LLDD Lecturer to join our Lifeskills faculty, supporting learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) at our Oxford campus. This temporary position is a full-time maternity cover role, starting in August 2025 and running until July 2026.
In this role, you will work with young people who have highly sensory needs and profound multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), providing highly personalised teaching to help them gain essential skills for life, independence, and work.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver high-quality lessons across subjects such as Maths, English, money management, personal safety, and problem-solving
- Develop and plan creative, differentiated learning activities tailored to individual learner needs
- Support students in achieving their EHCP outcomes and engaging with the wider community
- Lead a small team of Learning Support Assistants in the classroom
- Foster independence, confidence, and social skills through practical activities and community access
- Evidence learner progress and demonstrate successful outcomes
- Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver specialist interventions, therapies, and support
- Maintain accurate student records and assessments
Candidate Profile
We welcome applicants who:
- Have experience working with young people with PMLD or other SEND needs
- Hold a PGCE or L5 equivalent Teaching qualification
- Have a strong knowledge of SEND, particularly PMLD
- Possess excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Show a passion for teaching and a commitment to differentiated learning
- Demonstrate patience, resilience, and the ability to work well within a team
Desirable but not essential:
- Previous experience teaching in a PMLD setting
- Familiarity with RARPA and other SEND-specific teaching frameworks
- Willingness to undertake medical and therapeutic training to meet learners' needs
