English Lecturer - Bedfordshire

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Lecturer to join our team in Bedfordshire. This full-time, permanent role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on students' academic success by delivering engaging and high-quality English education.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, deliver, and assess English courses, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning
  • Support and guide students, providing constructive feedback and fostering progress
  • Develop lesson plans, schemes of work, and engaging learning materials for English
  • Monitor and record student progress, conduct tutorials, and provide detailed reports
  • Contribute to curriculum development and create opportunities for extended learning
  • Maintain an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation
  • Uphold the Student Code of Conduct and ensure a safe, supportive learning atmosphere
  • Participate in student interviews, open days, and other marketing activities
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, and health and safety

Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience

  • A degree in English or a related subject
  • Certificate in Education/PGCE or willingness to achieve
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English (grades A-C)
  • Recent experience teaching and assessing GCSE English
  • Knowledge of current developments in English education

  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
  • Ability to create positive, student-centred learning environments
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and educational technology
  • Ability to maintain high professional standards and uphold the College's reputation
