This role will involve dealing with in-house contractors to deliver planned, cyclical and routine maintenance, other construction works. Responsibility for estimating and tendering, procurement of sufficient resources, planning, health and safety, achieving profit targets and the day-to-day management of in-house and sub-contractor operations, to provide best value.

Your duties will involve:

• Ensure that all operations are carried out in accordance with health and safety legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Investigate and/or review near miss and accident reports arising from areas under the control of the Area Engineer and report as required.
• Dealing with enquiries and complaints.
• Managing staff resources and allocation of work.
• Participate in recruitment, selection and appointment of staff.
• Effective distribution of staff resource. Management of staff training, development and appraisal
• Manage the programming and construction of in-house contractor activities, including sourcing materials and equipment as required.
• Implement absence management and disciplinary procedures
• Investigate claims and prepare reports for insurers and legal representatives.
• Keep up to date with new legislation, equipment, processes and changes to operational policies and procedures
• Ensure that new legislation relating to Civils and Construction and Maintenance.
• Ensure procedures are implemented and Research and prepare reports.

Ideally looking for someone who posess HND in Civil Engineering or similar qualification will be considered.

My client is looking for someone who would be available in the office 5 days a week, but our client would consider hybrid working with balance of 2/3 days a week.

I also have other HGV roles in Fort William, Inverness, Perth, Killin, Edinburgh, Moray and the Highlands areas without accommodation.

To be successful for this role:

• You will be required to have a HGV Class 2 licence, CPC and Taco Digi Card.

These contracts will be long term for a minimum of 5 months with an immediate start date. There could be the opportunity for a permanent job at the end of the season for the right person.

Your role will be expected to do HGV Driving of a class 2 vehicle for winter maintenance work. The operatives generally work on a rota basis, you will be undertaking a variety of road maintenance tasks as well as driving gritters.

• Hourly rate of £17.52 per hour
• Overtime will be paid after 40 hours at an enhanced rate - £26.28 per hour (Time and Half)
• Night shift is paid at x 1.3 for the first 40hrs and 1.8 for anything over 40hrs
• Standbys are also set depending on your working pattern.
• Full week - £110
