Morgan Hunt requires a Media & Campaigns Officer for NHS based in South East London

Pay Rate: £18ph PAYE £2.17 WTR = Total Pay Rate: £20.17ph

Hours 37.5 9am to 5pm Mon to Fri - 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home

Location: South East London

Duration: 3 months on going contract

Job description:

The Media & Campaigns Officer plays a central role in the press office of the busiest NHS service in the country.

A self-starter, they are the first point of contact into the communications team for media queries and requests for interviews. Good judgement and confidence when dealing with journalists is a must.

They will help identify stories and generate ideas that promote the clinical excellence of our ambulance crews to traditional media as well as through our digital channels.

Key responsibilities:

• Act as the first point of contact for media calls on the press desk - which will involve judgement and persuasion skills responding to media requests in a timely and professional manner
• Build and develop relationships with journalists and producers to proactively pitch media stories and opportunities.

• Write news releases for local, regional, national, international and trade press
• Demonstrate empathy, confidence and resilience when subjected to the occasional very difficult phone conversations with the media, general public and colleagues.
• Handle media enquiries by noting requests; sourcing information relating to incidents/issues from staff, documentation and tapes of calls; developing responses based on facts available; and responding against media deadlines, ensuring responses adhere to Trust policy on maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Compile regular reports - such as the daily media summary - to the executive management team and the top levels of Service-wide management.
