Job description

Morgan Hunt is currently working with a university located in East London, in their search for a Category Manager specialising in Estates Facilities.

Your expertise in Estates Facilities procurement will be crucial as you lead procurement projects, provide support for business-led procurement activities, and take ownership of sub-categories to deliver savings targets.

This position will offer internal opportunity, progression, and a wide range of experience where you will have a strong impact on the development of the organisation's category strategies.

Job Title: Category Manager - Estates Facilities

Location: Hybrid (2 days in office, 3 remote working day)

Salary and Grade: Professional Grade 6, £52,000 - £58,000

Job Type: Permanent

Hours: Full time

Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide professional procurement advice and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and statutory obligations.
- Attend and proactively participate in project boards as required, advising and assisting with making key decisions.
- Proactively identify, evaluate, and drive opportunities for procurement options to provide value for money.
- Working with construction contracts.
- Ensure compliance and best value for all tenders carried out, including coordinating the development of product/service specifications, preparing commercial and legal elements of the invitation to tender documentation, agreeing evaluation criteria, and participating in the evaluation of tender returns.
- Provide contractual advice and guidance to internal and external clients, promoting and developing procurement expertise.
- Quantify and deliver procurement savings in accordance with agreed objectives.
- Ensure adherence to financial regulations throughout all procurement exercises.
- Support a collaborative, supportive, and approachable ethos for work with colleagues across the University.
- Represent yourself at external meetings, including national/regional consortia, and contribute to the development of framework contracts.
- Contribute to the implementation of electronic commerce initiatives.
- Perform any other related job responsibilities as directed by the Head of Procurement or Director of Procurement.
- Manage, maintain, and develop supply agreements to achieve best value for money and good practice in non-pay expenditure. To co-ordinate and apply good procurement procedures and techniques to meet the business

Personal Specification:

- University degree or equivalent
- Must have estates facilities experience
- Significant experience in managing large and complex procurement
- Experience of contributing to strategic plans, both financial and non-financial
- Experience of managing high-value contracts with proven skills in successful risk management and project management
- Experience of using Information Technology to enhance service delivery
- Evidence of pursuing own continuing professional development and commitment to a culture of continuous improvement
- Knowledge of the use of e-Procurement and financial systems
