Job description

Founded in 1837, the Royal College of Art is the world’s largest community of postgraduate art and design students. It is also the oldest art and design university in continuous operation and has been ranked as the world ‘s number one art & design university for a remarkable nine consecutive years (QS World Subject Rankings 2015-2022).

Applications are invited for a Senior Website and Content Manager in Communications & Marketing, reporting to the Head of Student Recruitment & Marketing.  This is a full time and permanent role based in Kensington. Team management and team development experience is essential as you will manage a team of four full time and part time team members.  

You will take overall responsibility for the strategy and delivery of: 

  • The RCA website and associated microsites
  • Content to support the website and other RCA needs, including video, designed publications and written content

 Main responsibilities: 

  • Develop and manage a strategy and delivery plan to ensure that the RCA website:
    • Works as an effective student recruitment tool
    • Meets the aims and objectives of all teams across the RCA in a balanced and appropriate way
    • Meets all technical demands, including but not limited to achieving a high level of up time, safety from cyber-attack, integration with other systems, and compliance with privacy and accessibility regulations
    • Is up-to-date, accurate, and reflects the RCA’s status as the World’s No. 1 Art and Design University

The successful candidate will have strong digital experience and skills, with practical experience of website management and CMS systems.  You will have a “client service” approach, with the ability to deliver on time and to budget.

Time management skills, both in terms of balancing multiple projects and coordinating delivery across a team and strong analytical skills, along with experience with digital evaluation and reporting.

Strong understanding of regulations affecting digital content in particular, and experience of delivering against these.  A commitment to inclusive and accessible communications

Experience of working with agencies,  commissioning or delivering content – either video, publications, or written content, along with experience of working as part of a wider communications and marketing team to meet commercial or recruitment targets.
