Study Support Assistant (SSA) at Barnet College

Are you passionate about helping students with additional needs achieve their full potential? Do you have experience in providing support in a classroom setting? Do you want to work in a dynamic and diverse college that offers a range of courses and opportunities?

If you answered yes to these questions, then you might be interested in applying for the role of Study Support Assistant (SSA) at Barnet College. As an SSA, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting students with mild, moderate to complex needs in their learning as directed by the Study Support Leads and/or vocational tutors.
  • Assisting students in the classroom with the use of learning resources, including digital based resources, specialist equipment aids and adaptations.
  • Contributing to the creation of a bank of learning resources to support students.
  • Working with the Study Support Leads to plan activities to support students with their studies.
  • Establishing and building relationships with young people which encourages and enables them to enhance their learning experience.

To be eligible for this role, you must have:

  • A Level 2 qualification in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in a support role which includes personal care.
  • Excellent administration and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to working effectively as part of a team.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to work.

The SSA role is a part-time, term-time only position, working 4 days a week. The salary is £18 per hour, pro rata inclusive of Outer London Weighting. You will be based at one of our main sites: Southgate, Wood Street or Colindale, but you may be asked to work on any of our college sites.
