Hospital IDVA

Location: Hounslow

Salary: 28.3k unqualified, 30.3k qualified (Safelives IDVA Accreditation)

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Our well respected client is seeking a dedicated Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to join their team, providing crucial support to individuals affected by domestic violence within a hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide high-quality support to domestic abuse (DA) victims in the Accident and Emergency Department (A&E) and accept referrals from other hospital wards and departments.
Work within a multi-agency framework, including participation in the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) and local partnership responses to DA.
Work in the highly skilled and pressured A&E department, requiring strong emotional and practical resilience.
Identify and assess risks and needs of DA victims (and their children) using evidence-based tools such as the Domestic Abuse, Stalking and Honour-Based Violence Risk Identification, Assessment and Management Model (DASH).
Provide crisis-led support for those at high risk and pro-active interventions for medium or standard risk, including safety planning and personal support.
Manage a time-limited caseload for clients in hospital or accessing hospital services, ensuring appropriate support, safety, and regular review.
Empower clients to recognise features and dynamics of domestic abuse, assisting them in regaining control of their lives upon discharge.
Ensure effective continuity of service for those transferring to community-based services, with clear communication to clients and providers.
Establish close working relationships within the hospital, particularly with the Emergency Department, Maternity Department, and Trust's Safeguarding Specialists.
Deliver training and awareness sessions for key staff on the role of the Hospital Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (HIDVA).
Understand multi-agency partnership structures and contribute to interventions and protection plans while maintaining an independent role.
Maintain accurate and confidential case management records, databases, and contribute to monitoring information for the service.
Support the development and completion of performance reports and statistical information to demonstrate the value of the service.
Comply with data protection legislation, confidentiality, information-sharing policies, and relevant legislation.
Respect and value the diversity of the community, ensuring the service is accessible to all victims.
Remain up to date and compliant with organisational procedures, policies, and professional codes of conduct.
